MSU Technologies (MSUT) is a Michigan State University faculty member’s first stop to discuss inventions developed as MSU. MSUT is the “technology transfer office” at MSU. The technology transfer professionals of MSUT are experienced in technologies from all areas of the research enterprise at MSU.  

Startup companies have an important role in the translation of early-stage inventions by focusing on commercial applications and de-risking the technology. By licensing intellectual property - to an established company or a startup - the university fulfills its mission to improve the lives of communities locally, regionally, and around the world.  

MSU developed guidelines to facilitate the commercial development and public use of inventions and copyrightable materials.
